Feeling Foggy? Turn On Your Brights!

Talk about the perfect antidote to the winter doldrums! This interiors shoot from the January 2009 issue of British House and Garden is simply the most stunning I have seen in a long while. I wish you could see these images in person, as the digital renditions just don’t do the colors justice. I highly recommend picking up your own copy for this serious feast of eye candy! Apropos to my color predictions for 2009, the cushions of these chaises longues are even upholstered in chambray!

The layered sherbet shades in the above shot warm me to the core. From the pistachio in the distance, to the lavender in the mid-ground and the butter yellow in the foreground, it’s clear that the stylist has given a lot of thought not only to the individual rooms but to how they interact with each other. The true mark of a gifted decorator! And the space below masterfully treads the line between ladylike–that purple paisley print! the ceramic table!—and sleek.

A true testament to the power of detail: the walls below are actually two complementary shades of yellow. The effect? The room seems larger, because the dual tones cause your eyes to travel through the space in a way that a static surface treatment would not. Genius! And can we talk about how stunning those rugs are?

And finally, in the words of the great Liz Lemon: “I want to go to there.”

Have a bright and beautiful weekend everyone!

Bright (though not neon) colors make me happy. The yellows and green in that 4th picture are fantastic, and as for that last picture, I want to go there, too.

Oh…. back in the day when I had my own place (pre hubby and children) I used that shade of lilac in my living room and it was beautiful. It really warms the cold winter British light. Thanks for posting, it’s cheered up my dull, cold foggy day.
    Have a great weekend! x
