Wedding Flashback: Ring Bowl by Paloma’s Nest

Dsc_0025

This was one of those special wedding details that very few people—really only me, the groom, and the best man—knew about. I ordered this custom ring bowl for the ceremony from one of my favourite Etsy sellers, Paloma’s Nest. You can select any text you like, and Paloma will imprint it on one of her spare, simple porcelain bowls.

I chose the final line from one of our favourite poems, "Directive" by Robert Frost. I had originally wanted a longer quotation, but Paloma was kind enough to contact me and recommend something shorter as the bowls are quite small and can only fit so many words! But she makes bigger ones too…

Hello, anniversary gift! I wonder if she can fit the following lines?

And if you’re lost
enough to find yourself

By now, pull in your
ladder road behind you

And put a sign up CLOSED
to all but me.

Here are your waters and
your watering place.

Drink and be whole again
beyond confusion.

. . .

Sigh. Isn’t it the most soulful poem in the world?

What a wonderful concept. My husband and I just got married on August 2nd, so all of this wedding stuff is still fresh in my mind. I do love this for an anniversary gift, too!

Thanks for stopping by, Chris, and congrats on your recent nuptials! Are you still in total post-wedding planning withdrawal like I am?
